Clearing My Desk

  • Apr 18, 2008
  • Post a comment

Well, my goal this week, starting on Monday (which was officially a day off for me), was to clear my desk by Friday morning. How did I do? I had several final edits to make to the Scottish Institute for Enterprise National Student Enterprise Summit videos, then upload them to their social network (some of which can be seen on our network). These edits are time consuming, an average of one hour is needed to re-compress and upload the video each time an edit is done. I’ve one left to do…

We’d also recorded 5 new podcasts for our building society clients last week, so they had to be edited, uploaded and linked to on our network (have a look - The Hanley Eye, The Loughborough Difference, The Mutual One Podcast, Teachers Talk and The Moneycast from Saffron Building Society).

I also created a group for the solicitor firm we’re producing ‘casts for. This is a great wee podcast, The Walker Laird Podcast, because it’s lawyers giving away free advice. In fact, today I’m off down to Ayr Races to podcast from a corporate event they’re hosting.

Another task was to put together the first edit of a video we shot in Edinburgh where Clyde 1 DJ Suzie McGuire and Scottish Bafta winner Kathleen McDermott swam with sharks. I then had to start writing the script for an introductory video/screencast for a client’s social network which launches at their annual conference next week.

And finally, I managed to get ahead of the game with an instructional video podcast we’re putting together for Do-Be.

So, Friday morning it is and my desk is cleared. And that’ll last about 2 hours.
